WORK on CBH Group’s rapid rail outloading and siding project at Moora is on track for commissioning in the March 2026 quarter.
It is one of 11 rail-siding extensions to be delivered as part of the co-operative’s Path to 2033 strategy which aims to hit an export out-turn peak of 3 million tonnes per month.
Work on the Moora project started in November, with head contractor Laing O’Rourke Rail Operations responsible for constructing a 1440m rail siding and a new six-silo 6600-tonne fixed rail-loading facility.
The project team is now moving from civil to structural, mechanical and rail works on site, following the completion of 60,000 cubic metres of bulk earthworks.
Work on the siding is progressing well, with drainage works and rail turnout connections under way, and the ballast layer of the earthworks expected to be laid in the near future.
Flash-butt welding of 150-350m lengths of rail track has also been finished and is ready for installation.
At the facility, 500 cubic metres of concrete foundations have been poured, and construction of the facility’s silos has started.
Silo trestles have been erected on the concrete pad and the silo cones have been welded in preparation for installation onto the trestles.
The facility’s auger pit has also been assembled and installed, with attention now shifting to the installation of the reclaim conveyor.
This month, the project team will invert and land the silo cones onto the trestle legs, and the first full silo structure will be erected at Moora.
