SHOWERS and isolated storms, some severe, driven by moist northerly winds, upper disturbance and a west coast trough affected the south-west of Western Australia during the week.
Weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm, locally higher, were recorded in isolated pockets across south-west Western Australia, Arnhem land in the Northern Territory, the Cape York Peninsula, and in pockets of the Queensland and New South Wales coasts.
Cold fronts and associated troughs brought scattered showers and isolated storms to Tasmania, southern regions of Western Australia and Victoria.
Weekly rainfall totals of 25 to 50 mm were recorded in scattered regions of northern and eastern Australia, a large region in the south-west of Western Australia, and parts of western Tasmania.
Much of Australia did not record any rain during the week as high-pressure systems brought settled weather conditions.
The highest confirmed weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 280.2 mm at Gove Airport in the Northern Territory.
The highest confirmed daily total (at a Bureau gauge) was 140.2 mm at Troughton Island in Western Australia in the 24 hours to 9 am on 13 April.
